Some sets go beyond nail art — they're a process. Here's a look at the inspiration, the technique, and the result behind some of Kara's most involved work.
This set was born from a love of Impressionist painting and the quiet beauty of Japanese koi ponds. The client brought in a mood board mixing Monet's Water Lilies with close-up photography of koi carp beneath the surface — and the brief was simple: bring it to life on ten nails.
Each nail tells a different part of the story. Mossy greens and sage form the pond bed on some, while others capture the glassy surface — translucent gel layers built up to create the illusion of depth and water. The koi were hand-painted in fine detail, their orange and white scales catching the light. Lily pads float across the upper nails, with delicate pink blooms and tiny water droplets finished in a high-gloss dome top coat.
